Keeping the Workplace Hygienic During Covid-19

Share this:

It has been two years since the pandemic took over the world by storm. More than 2.5 million people have died around the world due to this pandemic. It has changed the way all of us live our lives completely. A ton of offices have shifted to work-from-home, but there are still some companies that need physical offices to function. If you are thinking of opening up your office during this pandemic, you need to make sure that your employees will be safe at their workplace. We have talked to a few experts to get you some tips on keeping your office hygienic during COVID-19.

Follow Sneezing and Coughing Etiquette

This virus is known to spread through respiratory secretions, just like other viruses. There is still a lot to learn about the transmission of this virus, but we still know that it can spread through air particles when an infected person sneezes or coughs. If you or your employee have even a minor cough, it is important to wear a mask so that it does not spread outside. It is also important to cover your face when sneezing, even if you do not feel sick. Make sure that you wash your hands after this happens. Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing, and dispose of the tissue in the correct way.

The Importance of Washing Your Hands

Washing your hands is not only important during flu season, it is especially crucial during COVD-19. Make sure to enforce these rules with your employees. Another good idea is to use industrial paper towels instead of a blower to dry the hands since if the person is infected the blower will spread it around quite a lot. Make sure that your employees wash their hands after shaking hands, before and after eating food, after blowing their nose or coughing, and even after handling animals. This will go a long way in keeping your workplace hygienic.

Keep Workstations Clean

It is not only up to the employer to get the offices cleaned regularly but also is up to the employees to keep their workplace clean. All surfaces that are frequently touched should be cleaned on a regular basis. These include surfaces such as remote controls, countertops, desks, doorknobs, keyboards, etc. Regular cleaning products might not clean the surfaces completely. This virus can stay on a surface for more than 48 hours, which is why you should think of investing in disinfectants and other things. Also, provide your employees with some disposable wipes so that they can clean their own surfaces on a regular basis.

Give Enough Days Off to Your Employees

This pandemic has been quite serious for all of us. It is very important to make sure that you give your employees time off if they feel that they are under the weather. If they come to the office because they might lose their job, this might make more people in the office sick. You might just have to shut down your office till everyone gets checked and the place gets professionally cleaned.

It is very important to keep your workplace clean and hygienic for your employees so that they are not at risk for the virus.
