You Deserve To Be Happy, But Only You Can Make It Happen

You deserve to be happy. Everyone deserves to be happy, and it’s important that you are putting your best foot forward when it comes to making this happen. Is it going to be easy? It never usually is, but it’s still worth it. Even when happiness seems like an unattainable goal, you have to keep going and work for it because if you don’t, you’re never going to get there. 

Happiness is different for different people, and it’s all about finding the things that make you happy. Of course, there are going to be some general things that contribute to overall happiness also, some of which we are also going to be discussing in this article. Down below, we’re going to be looking at a variety of things that you should be doing to make yourself happy, so keep reading down below if you would like to find out more.

Stop Trying To Please Everyone

The first thing that we are going to say is that you need to stop trying to please everyone. You are never going to be able to do this, and you are only going to hurt yourself trying. We completely understand why you want to make everyone happy, especially if you are someone who enjoys doing this, but you cannot sacrifice your own needs for the sake of this. It might not be happening right now, but at some point if you are not careful, you will constantly put others’ needs above your own to the point where you cannot even identify what you need any longer.

Trying to please everyone is simply never going to be possible. There is always going to be someone who has an opinion on what you are doing or what you have done, and you have to learn to be okay with that. At the end of the day, the only person that you are fully responsible for is yourself, and your decisions need to reflect that. If they don’t, the person that you are going to end up resenting the most is yourself.

Take Care Of Your Physical Health

The next thing that we’re going to mention is taking care of your physical health. A lot of people don’t realize that this is tied in with your happiness and that you are likely to feel happier if you are healthy. It might mean switching up your diet a little to include more fruits, vegetables and protein in order to get all of the nutrients that you need, or if you know that your diet is okay, it might be time to make room for more exercise. If you know that you’re not doing enough exercise throughout the day, you need to change that. 

Your body will tell you what you need, you just need to learn to listen to it. We understand that this can be tough when you don’t know how to do it, but you need to start learning the cues. Your body will always let you know what it is that you need, and it’s then up to you to give it to it.

Take Care Of Your Mental Health

On the other side of the health coin we have your mental health. For some reason, mental health has become something that we have avoided talking about because people say that it’s embarrassing or that it’s something to be ashamed of. But, why? It’s no more embarrassing than having a broken leg or splitting your lip open. You need to take care of yourself in the same way, and that’s what you are going to have to work on.

In order to maintain your mental health, you need to be open and honest with yourself. You need to feel whatever you are feeling, all the good and all the bad. You need to talk to someone, whether that’s a friend, family member or a professional, and you need to ensure that you are letting your emotions out. If you bottle them up, if you push them down so far that nobody ever knows they are there, eventually you are going to run out of room, and you are going to explode. You will not be able to control when this happens, and the fallout can be insane.

Try Out Some New Hobbies

Do you have any hobbies right now? There are a lot of people who don’t have hobbies, and they are missing a fair chunk of joy from their lives. You might think that this sounds dramatic but we can assure you that it is not. The whole point of having hobbies is to give you something that you enjoy doing, that you can do on a regular basis. So, if you don’t have one right now and you don’t feel like going back to any that you had, then it might be worth trying something new.

If you step out of your comfort zone, that’s where you are going to find the things that you never thought you would enjoy, but actually do. For example, it might be the case that you decide to give gaming a shot, even though it’s not something that you would have chosen previously. You can start with video games like Call of Duty or Fortnite, or you can start with card games like spider solitaire depending on what entices you more. Try out all kinds of games though because only then will you know what you do and don’t like.

There are so many other hobbies such as collecting, sports, arts and crafts, baking, reading, and the list goes on. You can explore as many or as few as you want, as long as you manage to find something that you love along the way.

Find A Job You Adore

Do you think that anyone deserves to wake up each morning and dread the day that is to come at work? No, nobody does and yet there are some people who do. There are some people who dread the day from the very second they open their eyes all because they have to go to work, and that doesn’t seem right to us. Whether it’s the job itself that you don’t like or the company that you work for, you need to be doing something about this. Look for a new job in the background so that you can move forward and be happy with your life. 

Apply for different positions in different companies, and see what happens. You never know where life is going to take you until you get there, okay? So, while it might be tough at the moment while you’re at your current job, we promise that one day things are going to get better, and you will be okay.

Work On Your Relationships

When you think about your relationships in life, what do you think about? What are they like? Are they full of good communication? Or, do you feel as though there’s a breakdown here and nobody is really doing this? It’s likely that if there is a communication breakdown in one of your relationships and the problem is you or at least partially you, then this is going to happen in the others as well. It’s down to you to start working on trying to communicate better as best you can. Talk to the other people involved and ask them if you can work on this together, as you both have to want it.

The best thing that you can do for your relationships is to sit down and work out how you can strengthen them. Sometimes it might be rough to go through these and look at the deeper issues of what may be wrong, but it’s necessary. We promise that they will be all the stronger for it. As long as both parties are willing to put in the effort to get to a point where you are happy in the relationship, that is what matters most. It’s going to take time though. Just because you have identified the issue and put measures into place, doesn’t mean that it’s going to happen overnight, so keep that in mind.

At the end of the day, there is only so much that the people around you can do to help you on your journey to happiness. It will all come down to you in the end, and that’s exactly how it should be. It’s not up to anyone else to make you happy, you have to make the decision to be happy and do whatever it takes to make this happen. Some days are going to be harder than others, and there will be times where you struggle to make sense of your thoughts, feelings, and emotions, but those days will always pass.
