wake-up1-300x138 Are you a self-proclaimed night owl who in spite of working like a dog on your new business, chooses to stay up late chilling out in front of the boob tube or checking out what’s new on social media? Then it’s highly likely that you are barely making it through the work day as you feel worn out and tired most of the time.

People who are able to hop out of bed in the morning with a smile on their face are people who are very productive and ready to take on problems. So-called morning people are those who feel the most active early in the day as opposed to night owls who feel the most lively late at night. But night owls get less done during the day as they are fighting the body’s natural sleep cycle.

Numerous studies have shown that people are quicker, smarter and fresher in the morning hours as the nighttime is when the body needs rest. If the snooze button is your best friend, it’s time to change your habits as getting up early and tackling the day will make running your business easier. Here are three tips designed to transform you from a nocturnal beast into a bright and chipper early bird in just a matter of weeks.

Get in the Groove

As humans, we’re wired to be awake during the day and asleep at night. By making sure you’re in bed before the clock strikes 12 and getting up bright and early in the morning, your body’s internal clock will be in sync which is good for both your body health and mind. Stop making up excuses why you stay up late. Facebook and Twitter will still be there in the morning as will that list of jobs you need to get done.

Start Slowly

If you’re used to climbing out of bed at 10am, it’s not going to be easy to start getting up at 6. This is why you should ease into waking up earlier than you normally do by setting your alarm earlier in 15-minute increments each day until you reach your goal. Any new habit you’re trying to get into is always easier to accomplish when you start out by taking small steps. So don’t go overboard and think you can suddenly turn into a morning ninja because you can’t.

Keep Your Activities Varied During the Early Morning Hours

Instead of hopping out of bed each morning and doing the same thing each day, change up your morning routine so you don’t start another bad habit. It’s always a good thing to get in some exercise early in the day so go for a walk one morning and then spend the next morning tackling a business task that needs attention. Variety is the spice of life and it can go far in helping you both in your personal life and your career so mix things up a bit!
