Quick Ways to Make Effective Business Decisions

Share this:

Making decisions is one of the most important parts of being a business owner. You can’t own a business without needing to make decisions, sometimes even several times daily. Here, we have some quick ways you can make effective business decisions. Your decisions may not always seem like the right decision, but dwelling over your mistakes won’t help. Making a decision, feeling confident in your stance, and then moving on is key. Read on for some quick ways to make effective business decisions:

Get in Touch with Your Gut

Start by practicing getting in touch with your gut – in other words, your intuition. This might sound ‘hippy’, but studies have shown that we have a ‘second brain’ in our gut. If you’ve ever had butterflies, a bad stomach, or something else going on when you’ve needed to make a decision, this might be why. Try to drop down into your gut when it’s time to make a decision and see what happens. Notice how it feels. Does it seem to be saying yes or no? This takes practice, but it’s a quick way to trust yourself.

Let Go of the Idea of Perfectionism

There’s no such thing as perfectionism. If you can’t let go of it, you’ll dilly dally when it comes to making decisions through fear of making a wrong decision. There are no wrong decisions! Some may just be less ideal than others. You can always bounce back. There’s no such thing as perfection, so let it go.

Ask for Feedback

Asking for feedback from your team is always a good idea. They are closer to different issues, and will be able to give you valuable insight and feedback. Whether it’s feedback on your galvanised threaded pipe supplier, or feedback on a system you currently use, make sure you take it into consideration. Feedback is invaluable.

Listen to Tim Ferris

There’s a reason Tim Ferris is able to do all of the things he does without slogging away and working himself to the bone. The book ‘the four hour work week’ can be especially helpful, but he can also give many useful tips on his YouTube channel. He tells people to ‘look for 3 yeses’ when making decisions. A yes in the brain, one in the heart, and one in the stomach. Really focusing on these areas and paying attention to how you feel can ensure you’re more likely to make the best possible decision.

Keep Your Mission in Mind

Always keeping your mission in mind will help you to prioritize accordingly. Whenever you have a decision to make, look at your mission. Is it in alignment with your decision?

Make Fewer Decisions About Things That Aren’t Important

Nearly all entrepreneurs agree that if you’re going to make better, faster business decisions, you need to make fewer decisions about things that aren’t important. For example, what to eat and what to wear. This is why Mark Zuckerberg wears the same outfit every day.

Remember, it takes practice!
