A few decades ago, if you went searching for a woman-owned business you might have a harder time of it. That’s because for centuries, women have been relegated to the back burner of building wealth and controlling revenue. They were either legally prevented from ownership or not allowed in to certain positions or professions.
But today, in comparison to 30 years ago, the number of women-owned businesses has nearly tripled. There are millions of people who are employed by women owners and trillions of dollars in revenue that are created. And growth for women-owned businesses is stronger than for other types of businesses.
Of course, there’s still ground to make up, but there are some industries that are stronger for women than for others. Those include health care and professional services, amongst others.
So what does the state of women-owned businesses as a whole look like?
